Level Table

In a grill diner in the town of Langenhagen, the iron base pole of the only stand-up table there is anchored to the ground. The tabletop is set in a horizontal position. A black and white border is fastened around the rim of the circular surface of the table. Surveyors now mark the altitude of the table on all street poles in the city by tying narrow tracing tape around them. Passers-by thereby encounter the coordinates of this citywide reference level in far reaching areas as well.
